1915Jerome D. Travers Jerome D. Travers, an amateur from the Upper Montclair (N.J.) Country Club, followed the trail which Ouimet had blazed. Travers already had won the Amateur four times, and he achieved his ambition in the Open by playing the last six holes in one under par to beat Tom McNamara by a stroke. The Championship was at the Baltusrol (N.J.) Golf Club in June and Travers' score was 76-72-723-76-297, nine over par. |
