Johnny Farrell

Johnny Farrell, of the Quaker Ridge Golf Club, Scarsdale, N.Y., and Bob Jones played to another tie, with 294s, 10 over par, at the Olympia Fields Country Club, Matteson, Ill., in June. The playoff distance had been increased to 36 holes, and Farrell won it with a 70-73-143 to Jones' 73-71-144. Farrell's Championship rounds had been 77-74-71-72. The entry rose above 1,000 for the first time, as 1,064 attempted to qualify.
